DHL has issued the latest version of EasyShip Connect. The software is designed for small businesses that ship up to 50 packages per day. Featuring downloadable installation, version 8.0 allows users to access shipping functions to U.S. and international destinations via a PC-based application. EasyShip Connect is compatible with the Windows Vista operating system. It communicates with DHL servers via the internet to perform all shipping functions, from printing waybills to tracking shipments and shipment-management reporting. The software can now accept a pre-filed Internal Transaction Number (ITN) for compliance with the U.S. Department of Commerce's Electronic Export Information (EEI) requirements. EEI filing is required for most international shipments valued over $2,500, for specific commodities and destinations. In another company announcement, DHL Global Forwarding has enhanced its global capabilities for the life science and healthcare industries. The provider has expanded its network of Envirotainer QEP (Qualified Envirotainer Provider) certified sites. DHL has extended its capabilities for temperature-sensitive items at additional airport facilities in the U.S., Canada and Europe. DHL personnel are now trained and certified by Envirotainer, the maker of temperature-controlled air-cargo containers. QEP accreditation requires training and audits on the proper handling of Envirotainers, as well as the use of associated equipment.
