RedPrairie Corp. has made enhancements to its warehouse-management system (WMS) software related to the shipment of food and other perishable goods. The application includes advanced algorithms for picking, staging and loading product across multi-temperature and multi-building campus environments. It takes into account the existence of multiple loading doors and temperature zones on trailers, as well as stop sequencing. The multi-temperature loading enhancements are contained in the latest version of RedPrairie's Warehouse Management system, now available in general release. In a related announcement, RedPrairie has released a parcel-manifesting system that is fully integrated with the vendor's Warehouse Management and Transportation Management applications. Certified by the major parcel carriers, the system supports time-definite shipments for U.S.-based shippers. Other features include bundling of multiple cartons for manifesting as a single package, pre-manifesting and pre-labeling of packages before picking, and the printing of required international shipping documentation. RedPrairie also maintains up-to-date carrier rate tables and compliant labeling requirements.
