Transplace has launched Transplace Consulting, a new venture that is aimed at customers in the manufacturing, distribution and retailing sectors. The unit will provide logistics-engineering, design and consulting services, focusing on areas in which companies can reduce total transportation and inventory-holding costs. Transplace Consulting will offer a variety of best-in-class benchmarking data and other tools in support of network redesign, procurement and analysis of supply chain tradeoffs. It will draw on the firm's suite of Scenario Pro Technology (SPT) consulting services for execution, updating of production codes and measurement of benefits. Transplace also promises to help customers identify new sales and business opportunities. Transplace is a non-asset-based, third-party logistics provider with an estimated $2.75bn worth of freight under management. It offers complete management outsourcing, as well as transportation management systems, supply-chain network planning, and brokerage services.
