IJS Global Inc., a Stamford, Conn.-based multimodal freight forwarder, customs broker and non-vessel operating common carrier, says it has acquired Transfairways BV, a Dutch logistics provider specializing in project forwarding.
Transfairways will be integrated into the existing operations of IJS Global (Netherlands) BV, which is located near Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport. Through the acquisition, IJS Global will offer a full range of air, ocean, land transport and logistics services, including express carriage and project forwarding to less-than-containerload sea freight and air solutions.
One of Transfairways' niches is managing the logistics of medical equipment, pharmaceuticals and personnel that need to be quickly dispatched to deliver humanitarian aid.
