ALK Technologies Inc. has released PC*Miler Web Services 22. The company is a developer of routing, mileage and mapping software. The new hosted service delivers PC*Miler data over the internet to customers with virtually any kind of computer platform or operating system, the vendor said. Users of the technology include carriers, third-party logistics providers and shippers. Web Services are especially helpful to companies with multiple locations, multiple versions of PC*Miler or mixed computer systems, ALK said. Shipment data can pass through an AS/400 platform to a Windows or Linux-based work station via the Level 3 servers that host the service. ALK introduced PC*Miler Web Services a year ago, in response to customer requests for help with cross-platform problems. Version 22 features enhanced PC*Miler network data, along with improvements in the way the data can be managed and displayed. PC*Miler Web Services offers four levels of product--Lite, Standard, Premium and Enterprise. The Lite option includes core PC*Miler functionality, while the other three offer more full-featured versions with additional capabilities such as street-level routing, truck-specific toll costs and map display.
