Samsung has contracted Penske Logistics to manage its nationwide distribution chain of electro-electronics and cell phones in Brazil. Penske will be responsible for coordinating everything from inbound receipt verification of imported products and shipments from factories in Manaus and Campinas, Brazil, to managing highway and air transportation for retail distribution.
Penske Logistics will leverage its infrastructure, including a new 130,000 square-foot distribution center in São Paulo.
"We are very pleased to add Samsung to the growing list of customers that Penske serves in Brazil," says Gary Franz, managing director for Penske Logistics South America. "We look forward to lending our operational capabilities and logistics expertise to help Samsung strengthen and grow its business here in Brazil and in other markets."
Operations at the newly opened distribution center, Castelo Multi-Client Warehouse, include integrating supply chains, executing packaging, inventory management and coordinating product transportation. It is the second multi-client warehouse for Penske Logistics and the company's eighth operation center in Brazil. The new warehouse has an investment value of approximately $650,000.
"Opening the Castelo Multi-Client Warehouse reaffirms Penske Logistics' commitment to growth in Brazil, and provides support to international clients by offering world-class services in the local market," Franz says. "The new facility increases our operational capacity in the region and affords us the flexibility to continue expanding our business."
