The report, released by the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM), entitled “The Supply Chain Profession in 2023: Salaries and Careers Across the Globe,” showed that salaries for U.S. supply chain professionals ranged from $62,962 to $192,000 in 2021 2022.

In the United States, individuals with less than a year of experience in the supply chain industry reportedly received average pay increases equating to $5,000 from 2022 to 2023. Those with one to two years of experience in the field averaged a pay increase of $3,000. For people with three to nine years of experience, their pay increased by as much as $5,775. However, those that have been working in the U.S. supply chain sector for ten to 19 years only saw their salaries increase by an average of $200 from 2022 to 2023.
Interestingly enough, people with the most experience in the U.S. supply chain industry recently had to take pay cuts. The average salary of U.S. supply chain professionals with 20 or more years of experience fell from $125,191 in 2022 to $120,000 in 2023.
Whether in the U.S. or elsewhere, the study showed that members of the supply chain industry are extremely satisfied with their jobs. Amongst survey participants, 65% of all respondents gave their career satisfaction rating a level of eight or higher on a scale from one to ten, and 96% said they plan on staying in the supply chain space for at least the next five years.
“The 2023 Supply Chain Salary and Career Report shows a bright outlook for those in supply chain, with the salary gap narrowing for people of color and women at public companies, salary and compensation increases and high job satisfaction,” the ASCM said.
The ASCM recorded 3,953 usable responses from supply chain professionals from around the globe for the survey from January 24 to February 13, 2023. The margin of error for percentages related to those usable responses was ±2% based on a confidence level of 95% from the ASCM.
