Whizz, the e-bike subscription platform for last-mile delivery drivers, launched its Ride Safe initiative May 31, which will provide 100 free bicycle helmets to New York City-based delivery drivers every month. Whizz is hoping that the endeavor will lead to a decrease in the number of couriers involved in motor vehicle accidents — 62% of the 150,000+ delivery workers in New York City have reportedly been involved in at least one motor vehicle collision, according to Whizz.
Anybody with an active delivery service account can now claim a free bicycle helmet by visiting the Whizz website. Drivers must fill out a short form on the website and then can collect their helmets from one of the company’s locations in Manhattan or Brooklyn by showing their active delivery driver account and ID.
