The structural flaws of global supply chains were exposed by COVID-19. But the origins of those problems date back much further than the pandemic.
COVID-19 wasn’t the reason for the failures of global supply chains; it merely exposed them. That’s the contention of Jack Buffington, director of supply chain and sustainability at First Key Consulting, and professor and academic director of the supply chain management program at the University of Denver. On this episode, we discuss his new book, Reinventing the Supply Chain: A 21st-Century Covenant With America.” We’ll trace the historical role of supply chains in the global economy, and discuss why they must evolve to enact social and cultural change in America. When it comes to many of the social inequities and disruptions confronting the nation, supply chains are both a cause and a solution. And just what is a “community-based supply chain which is both local and global”? Hosted by Bob Bowman, Editor-in-Chief of SupplyChainBrain.
