DHL eCommerce Solutions, a division of the logistics company Deutsche Post DHL Group, announced June 6 it had relocated its operations to a new, larger wholly-owned distribution center in Kansas City, Missouri to meet growing demands in the Midwestern United States.
The new 124,700-square-foot facility represents an investment of approximately $18 million by DHL, enabling the organization to process more domestic cargo and ship to more parts of the U.S.
In a statement, DHL eCommerce Solutions said that the new distribution center is double the size of the company’s old location, which was based in St. Louis, Missouri. DHL said it believes the new facility will be able to more than double the number of packages and parcels it processes compared to the old site.
“The Kansas City metropolitan area is rapidly expanding, and it’s the perfect location for DHL eCommerce Solutions to have a larger, fully-customized facility that will assist us in growing our footprint in the Midwest,” said Lee Spratt, CEO of DHL eCommerce Solutions for the Americas.
The relocation to Kansas City is part of DHL eCommerce Solutions’ larger plans to invest over $300 million to support the company’s expansion within the U.S. market. Earlier in 2023, DHL relocated its Stow, Ohio operations to a new, wholly-owned building and its Salt Lake City, Utah distribution center to a new, larger facility.
