OceanGuaranteed, a joint service of APL Logistics and Con-way Freight, has added Canada to its list of destinations. At the same time, the venture has opened its first inland point of origin in Asia, in Guangzhou, China. OceanGuaranteed is a time-definite service offering guaranteed delivery from Asia to the U.S. for less-than-containerload (LCL) cargo. Since its inception in 2006, it has grown to nine departure points in Asia, while expanding to offer delivery outside the U.S. OceanGuaranteed claims to be the only premium ocean service providing day-definite delivery and fast transit times for Asia LCL export cargoes. Rates are about 25 percent of those for airfreight. With the latest expansion, shippers sourcing in China's Pearl River Delta can use OceanGuaranteed from Guangzhou, 160 miles west of Shenzhen. APL Logistics is responsible for transportation from Guangzhou to the load port of Hong Kong. New Canadian destinations include Montreal, Quebec; Toronto, Ontario and Vancouver, British Columbia. OceanGuaranteed offers expedited handling and processing, including late-gate privileges at origin, "hot-stow" priority stowage on the vessel, and "last on, first off" loading and unloading for rapid discharge at the destination port.
