Inttra, an electronic-commerce portal for the ocean freight industry, has made available a new service for idle container management (ICM). The on-demand offering allows shippers and freight forwarders to manage exceptions in the ocean-container supply chain. Inttra ICM provides visibility across multiple ocean carriers, customers and locations. They receive alerts if a shipment is not moving as planned, based on user-defined thresholds for notification. The tool provides visibility throughout the supply chain to track all active shipments and manage them via multiple references, including booking, bill of lading and purchase-order number. Inttra ICM identifies key operational details, including the latest container event and location, and vessel and voyage information at the shipment and container level. Searches can be filtered by carrier, customer, vessel, voyage and other relevant criteria. A data-export feature allows organizations to forward shipment details to business units or partners.
