SAP AG has made available a new software application, which allows companies to measure, report and consume energy. The vendor's Industry Value Network group for chemicals has worked to develop energy-management capabilities within SAP's Environmental Compliance application. The group set out to create a tool that would meet the needs of chemical manufacturers while being easily applied to other industries. The new product draws on the capabilities of SAP's Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP MII) application as well as the PI application of OSIsoft and SAP Environmental Compliance, developed in partnership with TechniData. It allows companies to gather information on the use of energy in all its forms, identify areas for energy reduction, monitor the implementation of energy excellence products and make the results available throughout the organization.
