Dematic announced July 13 that it had launched its Noise Reduction Portfolio, a new service that can diminish noise at supply chain facilities, allowing workers to better communicate and hear safety warnings. The new service also includes before-and-after 3D noise mapping audits that can help businesses reduce noise in their facilities by up to 15 decibels.
According to the National Institute for Occupation Safety and Health (NIOSH), almost 22 million workers in the United States are exposed to noises loud enough to damage their hearing annually. Simultaneously, European studies found almost 30 million workers are exposed to occupational noise that could impair their hearing.
"The well-being of our customers and their employees is a high priority that includes protecting hearing when working in loud environments like distribution centers," said Andy Randles, senior director of Global Lifecycle Support at Dematic. "By implementing this portfolio of technology, our customers can take the noise levels down in their facilities from a concert hall to a classroom chat. It's a huge step forward in improving work environments."
