Shopify announced August 30 that it had struck a deal with Amazon that will allow merchants on the e-commerce platform to offer a “Buy with Prime” option in their online stores. Shopify had a change of heart after it told merchants in 2022 not to use Amazon’s “Buy with Prime” feature because it violated the website's terms of service, according to TechCrunch.
Amazon will soon release an app in Shopify’s online ecosystem that gives U.S.-based merchants using Amazon’s fulfillment network the chance to add a “Buy with Prime” option to their checkout process via Shopify Payments. When released, the Amazon-Shopify app will be available for both new and existing “Buy with Prime” merchants.
Shopify merchants will be able to offer their products to Amazon Prime members on Shopify for the first time while maintaining control of their brand as well as customer data.
After the application is installed, merchants will be able to select specific items from their Amazon inventory to be part of their “Buy with Prime” catalog on Shopify. Once the products are added, a “Buy with Prime” button will automatically appear on the item’s product page, matching the existing theme of Shopify stores. Also, merchants will be able to accept Amazon Pay alongside Shopify Payments during checkout.
