The Chinese car manufacturer Xpeng announced October 10 that it had suspended its vice president in charge of supply chains, Li Feng, because of a corruption probe. Prior to the announcement, Feng oversaw procurement for the company, according to CNBC.
“Xpeng has a strict stance against corrupt activities. We remain vigilant in identifying and rectifying any instances of corruption promptly,” said a spokesperson for the organization. “We would like to clarify that our recent internal anti-corruption measures implemented by the company are a part of our continuous commitment to promoting ethical conduct and integrity, and this incident has had limited impact and will not disrupt our business or production processes.”
Xpeng shares were up by roughly 2% on October 11 in pre-market trading. However, one day earlier, Xpeng’s stock tumbled by more than 10% on October 10 in response to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. Earlier this month, Xpeng delivered 750 vehicles to Israel in an attempt to spark international growth.
During September, Xpeng was able to deliver 15,310 EVs to consumers, an 81% increase when compared to September 2022.
