ToolsGroup, which specializes in demand-driven inventory optimization solutions, says that OSRAM S.p.A. has contracted to implement the company's Service Optimizer 99+ (SO 99+) solution. With sales of 4.7 billion Euros ($7.4bn) in 2007, OSRAM is one of the largest lighting manufacturers in the world. Part of the Siemens AG Group, it has a global presence with 41,000 employees in 150 countries, including 48 production and distribution sites in 17 countries. It operates in North America as OSRAM Sylvania.
OSRAM will leverage ToolsGroup's SO 99+ solution to optimize the planning processes of raw materials and components managed at its production site in Treviso, Italy.
"Our decision to implement ToolsGroup's SO 99+ solutions was principally motivated by the need to review our optimization strategy for purchased components," says Giuseppe Carrer, coordinator of the Inbound Supply Chain improvement project at Treviso. "In addition to advanced technology and targeted solutions, ToolsGroup offers us a great deal of experience in the field."
ToolsGroup officials say the developer's demand-driven inventory optimization solutions improve daily forecast accuracy and correctly set safety stocks to achieve almost 100 percent customer-service levels while significantly cutting inventory.
