Schneider National says that Nestle USA has named the transportation and logistics services provider as one of its two primary intermodal providers.

In its new expanded role, Schneider will move goods from North American manufacturing plants to specific Nestlé distribution centers across the United States, including Mira Loma, Calif., DeKalb, Ill., Breinigsville, Pa., Forth Worth, Texas, and McDonough, Ga.

"We selected Schneider as one of our main intermodal carriers because of the success we've had with them over the past 20 years," says Joe Lombardo, group manager of transportation logistics for Nestlé USA. "They possess their own containers and trailers, which means they are well-positioned to help us optimize our trailer pools. In addition, Schneider's use of technology allows us to haul more freight using less manpower while still achieving the easy, door-to-door service Nestlé prides itself on."
