Members of the United Auto Workers (UAW) union working for Stellantis voted November 17 to ratify a tentative, record-setting labor deal. According to Reuters, the deal received 68% approval from voting members, equating to a vote margin of 9,600.
The approval locks in the UAW’s deal with Stellantis through April 2028 and includes a 25% wage hike over the life of the contract.
Prior to this deal’s ratification, the UAW voted to approve a new contract with General Motors that features a similar 25% increase in wages over the next four years, according to NPR.
"When we return to the bargaining table in 2028, it won't just be with the Big Three, but with the Big Five or Big Six," UAW president Shawn Fain said in October.
The UAW announced October 31 that it had reached a tentative deal with GM. The union also reached tentative deals with Ford October 26 and Stellantis October 30.
Before this announcement was made, members of the United Auto Workers (UAW) union at General Motors’ Spring Hill, Tennessee plant and Ford’s Louisville, Kentucky truck plant voted no on a pair of recently proposed contract agreements between the union and two of the Detroit Big Three automakers November 13. Fifty-two percent of UAW members at GM’s Flint, Michigan assembly plant, which employs about 4,700 workers, also voted against the proposal during the week of November 7.
