U.S. industry is fervently hoping for a resurgence in domestic manufacturing. Application of artificial intelligence is the key.
A dramatic shift in global sourcing is underway, as manufacturers cast about for low-cost and convenient alternatives to China and other traditional producers. With that change comes hope of a revival of U.S. domestic manufacturing. Yet obstacles remain, including the relatively high cost of American labor and the need for big investments in supporting infrastructure. But what the American industry boom really needs is AI, says Artem Kroupenev, vice president of strategy with AI specialist Augury. On this episode, he argues that AI, machine learning, the internet of things and cloud computing are all necessary elements in a return to U.S. production. He discusses where all this new technology fits into the picture, and what it means for human labor. And he addresses the question of whether coming regulations affecting generative AI will serve to slow the progress of the technology. Hosted by Bob Bowman, Editor-in-Chief of SupplyChainBrain.
