PowerID Ltd., a vendor of battery-assisted, passive (BAP) technology for radio frequency identification (RFID), has signed partnership agreements with five value-added resellers and system integrators in the Americas since the release of its EPCglobal Class 1, Generation 2-compliant labels. The new partners, ranging from Canada to Brazil, include Xterprise, Venture Research, Rush Tracking Systems, Intelliwave and Synergy. All are bundling PowerID's labels into their RFID offerings. The vendor's Gen 2 BAP product portfolio combines the reliability of a BAP label with support for standards-based Gen 2 RFID readers. PowerID labels operate in the ultra high frequency (UHF) range. They are designed to track challenging materials, such as liquids, metals and paper. The company's flexible battery technology enables readability in difficult environments while boosting the read range of the labels, PowerID said. BAP offers a performance level that is comparable to active RFID technology, at a lower price and with better performance than those of passive RFID tags, the vendor claimed.
