AliExpress will now offer five-day delivery for customers in the United States, as the battle against fellow Chinese e-commerce competitors like Temu ramps up.
AliExpress is Alibaba's international e-commerce platform, first offering international five-day delivery in 2023 to countries such as Germany, France, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and Mexico before announcing the expansion to the U.S. on March 19.
This comes as Temu has expanded well into the mainstream in the U.S., following six 30-second ads that ran during the Super Bowl. It operates as what retail analyst Neil Saunders described to BBC News as "Amazon on steroids," offering a variety of products at prices well under those seen on other e-commerce platforms.
BBC News further notes that Alibaba is frequently neck-and-neck with Temu as the two most valuable Chinese firms on the U.S. stock exchange.
AliExpress reported a 60% year-over-year increase in order volumes in Q4 of 2023. They credited the boost to their "Choice" service, which offers faster, free shipping on select items.
