IBM Japan says it has implemented a new accounting system at NYK Line as part of the carrier's "New Horizon 2007" management plan. That initiative focuses on three key strategies: expanding the company's maritime business, evolving its logistics integration capabilities, and enhancing corporate fundamentals, including technology infrastructure and processes.
As part of its corporate fundamentals focus, NYK Line contracted IBM Global Business Services to renew its accounting system and the supporting IT infrastructure.
The new accounting system standardizes and brings transparency to NYK's financial processes, including charter fee settlement management, fuel inventory management, container management to improve corporate compliance and reduce time spent on finance processing tasks.
