Finland's Confidex has introduced a new radio frequency identification (RFID) tag for use on metal objects. The Confidex Steelwave Micro is a passive UHF RFID tag, which complements the vendor's existing Confidex Steelwave tag. It is designed to track valuable IT assets and boost inventory management. According to the company, RFID tagging of IT equipment results in faster, more detailed and more accurate day-to-day management of key operational assets within an organization. Such assets include servers, routers, storage devices and desktop computers, as well as portable devices such as removable hard drives and laptops. Confidex Steelwave Micro enables the accurate tracking of all valuable IT assets throughout their lifecycles, regardless of their location, the vendor claimed. Confidex RFID tags have been used in a variety of applications, including the identification of IT assets, vehicles, railcars and reusable transit items.
