Last-mile delivery fulfillment provider OneRail has acquired order management software company Orderbot.
OneRail says the acquisition will allow its last-mile delivery network to use Orderbot's inventory and order management systems to speed up fulfillment, reduce out-of-stock and split shipments, and cut down on costs.
“OneRail’s vision from the beginning has been to empower shippers with the technology, tools and operational support to seamlessly fulfill from any location via any transportation mode, anytime,” OneRail CEO Bill Catania said in a June 5 press release. “The acquisition of Orderbot is a critical next step for OneRail, as we move upstream in the order flow."
Speaking at 2024's Home Delivery World conference in Philadelphia on June 4, Catania also explained how OrderBot's distributed order management, inventory management and product information management capabilities would enhance OneRail's scope in terms of dynamic sourcing.
"Instead of fulfilling an order from the store nearest the customer, we see all stores as a dynamic fulfillment network," he said.
OneRail's clients include PepsiCo, Lowe's Home Improvement and American Tire Distributors among others.
