ProLogis says it has leased 545,000 square feet (50,650 square meters) of distribution space in the United Kingdom to Screwfix, the country's leading online supplier of home improvement and hardware products for consumers.
Screwfix will occupy a recently completed facility at ProLogis Park Stafford, a 128-acre industrial park the company is developing in the West Midlands. Screwfix will use the facility to distribute its homebuilding products to tradesmen, handymen and serious do-it-yourself enthusiasts throughout the country. The building will also support Screwfix's new Trade Counter service, which enables customers to make in-person catalog orders at the warehouse for same-day delivery to their homes and businesses.
"This transaction exemplifies many of the market dynamics we're seeing in the UK and throughout Europe," says Alan Curtis, managing director for ProLogis in the United Kingdom. "Leading companies like Screwfix are seeking to optimize their logistics operations using new facilities from ProLogis, based on the strength of our locations, the quality of our buildings and our international reputation for customer service. We're very pleased to have been selected by Screwfix for this project, and look forward to working with them closely as their industrial facilities provider."
ProLogis Park Stafford is located on the M6, one of the UK's primary north-south motorways. The park offers convenient access to several airports, as well as nearby rail lines. At full build-out, ProLogis Park Stafford will comprise four buildings totaling almost 1 million square feet (93,100 square meters) of distribution space.
