How do we solve the problem of obsolete electronic components in the aviation and defense industry?
Manufacturers of all stripes — and A&D in particular — must have sufficient stocks of components on hand in order to keep their assembly lines flowing. The lack of a single part, however small, can bring operations to a grinding halt. But too much inventory can also be a problem, especially when A&D manufacturers and their suppliers are holding on to out-of-date or obsolete materials. And, given ever-changing regulations and the pace of technology advances in A&D, that scenario is all too likely. On this episode, we tackle the issue of component obsolescence with Rob Picken, senior vice president of digital transformation with Sourceability, a global distributor of electronic components and provider of accompanying supply chain services. We’ll learn of the risk of obsolescence, and the tools and practices that are available to mitigate it. Hosted by Bob Bowman, Editor-in-Chief of SupplyChainBrain.
