Datalogic Scanning has released a new handheld barcode scanner, the PowerScan PD7100 industrial linear imager. The unit is designed for high-volume industrial applications--including manufacturing, warehousing, transportation and logistics--at instinctive reading distances, from contact to long-range. According to the company, it is well-suited for work in progress, forklifts, stocking, shipping, receiving and retail point-of-sale checkout applications in rough environments. The product can perform 390 scans per second, while reading damaged or poorly printed barcodes, the company claimed. "Green Spot" technology provides intuitive and reliable "good-read" confirmation. A plastic case with rubber overmold protects the unit from damage due to drops. In a related development, Datalogic Mobile, Inc. has added vehicle-mount rugged computers to its menu of products, through a global original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with DLoG GmbH. Datalogic Mobile is distributing the DLoG X-series industrial computers as part of the Datalogic Mobile R Series product portfolio. The vehicle-mount computers are especially suited for demanding applications in extreme environments with operating temperatures from -22 degrees F to 122 degrees F. The units also include protection against dust and water.
