SAP AG has devised a new application for enhancing governance, risk and compliance (GRC) programs in the area of global trade. According to the vendor, the SAP GRC Global Trade Services tool allows users to cope with the laws governing international trade in a more efficient manner. Offering a broad set of import and export certifications, the product has achieved certification for the Automated Broker Interface (ABI), which allows companies automatically to file their customs entries directly with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In the process, they can reduce or eliminate costs related to the filing of import documentation by third parties. The ABI certification allows users of SAP GRC Global Trade Services to prepare for Customs' upcoming "10+2" rule, requiring importers and carriers electronically to submit additional information on cargo before it enters the U.S. SAP also announced release of the SAP Electronic Invoicing for Brazil application. The tool allows companies doing business in Brazil to meet new requirements on the electronic filing of invoices, by providing automated, certified and secure interfaces to state and federal government agencies. It is based on the Nota Fiscal process in SAP's enterprise resource planning software.
