Ortec has developed new releases of two applications: Ortec Transport & Distribution (TD) and Ortec Service Planning (SP). The vendor has added functionality to TD in support of companies using intermodal transportation. The modular extension includes the support of sales-rate calculation and slot booking. A second new module provides advanced planning support for container trucking. The software has been enhanced to help users better comply with tougher laws on truck driving in Europe. Dispatchers now have more control in the planning of breaks. The application's track-and-trace capabilities have also been improved, with GPS positions of equipment displayed directly on the map. Automated planning functionality allows users to optimize or re-optimize within a route. Ortec's Service Planning software, meanwhile, has been enhanced with a module that enables checks on working-time regulations, union rules and individual contracts. The module supports the balancing of hours worked over a longer period, Ortec said. In addition, features that allow for the maintaining of recurrent orders have been extended. Exceptions to a recurring pattern can be administered upfront.
