Panalpina, the global freight forwarder and logistics service provider, has signed a master lease agreement with Envirotainer. The deal allows Panalpina to provide Envirotainer's temperature-controlled air-cargo containers as part of its new cold chain management services for the healthcare industry. While the two companies have worked together for more than six years in various markets, the new arrangement marks the first time that they have cooperated on a global scale. In addition to serving the pharmaceutical industry, Panalpina is taking part in Envirotainer's Qualified Envirotainer Provider (QEP) program for training and quality control. Peter Claessens, Panalpina's global head of industry vertical healthcare, said the deal will allow the company to expand its cold-chain services to additional customers. Envirotainer recently decided to focus its business exclusively on serving the pharmaceutical market. The company operates a fleet of more than 3,500 temperature-controlled air-cargo containers.
