CMA CGM has overtaken Maersk to once again become the largest carrier of transpacific trade.
Data from Alphanliner through the end of November shows that Maersk’s transpacific market share, is now 13.1% — slightly lower than the same month in 2023 — while its French competitor has 13.2%. COSCO follows a close third with 12.9%, according to Splash247.com.
At the time of Alphaliner’s survey, some 17% of the global container fleet capacity was deployed between Asia and North America. Only the notably longer Asia-Europe trade corridor, which currently absorbs 24% of the global fleet, accounts for a higher share.
Overall, the transpacific ocean trade saw a total capacity of 5.37 million TEUs last month, up 4.2% year-on-year.
