xpedx has begun upgrades on its U.S. distribution network with a RF-enabled warehouse management system that will bring important new advantages and expanded services to xpedx customers worldwide.
xpedx has contracted with RedPrairie, a global provider of supply chain management software, to provide the new WMS and related services that will be used across the xpedx distribution network.
Upon implementation, xpedx says its customers will see such benefits as increased supply chain productivity, activity-based costing and other measurement tools, order accuracy, quicker order turnaround, shorter travel time and real-time inventory tracking.
xpedx says the new WMS will also enable it to expand delivery of high-demand kitting, fulfillment and inventory consignment services.
"Our goal is repeatable logistics excellence--delivering the perfect order at the right time, every single time," says Art Douville, executive vice president of operations for xpedx. "This new warehouse management system will give xpedx and its customers unprecedented visibility and control over products throughout the supply chain."
"Retailers and manufacturers expect their partners to deliver proven global best practices in distribution, logistics and supply chain management," says Jeff Neely, director of sales for Tampa-based xpedx Supply Chain Services. "With the addition of RedPrairie's RF-enabled WMS technology, our customers are assured we'll make the infrastructure investments they expect from strategic, long-term partners."
xpedx said the technology will deliver new efficiencies and productivity advantages company wide and across the more than 100,000 SKUs it actively manages every day in its North American distribution network.
