Business Objects has developed version 3.1 of Business Objects XI, the vendor's unified business intelligence (BI) platform. The tool gives users access to information regardless of format, shape, size or location. The update offers integration with data sources from a variety of vendors, including HP, Microsoft, Netezza and Oracle. It provides simplified access to transaction data, along with native support for 64-bit architecture. Companies can consolidate and transform data from multiple sources into reports that can be shared for purposes of collaborative decision-making. In the case of applications from Oracle, users can draw on information stored in PeopleSoft Enterprise, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and Siebel applications, among others. The platform integrates with Microsoft components such as Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, SharePoint Services and Office SharePoint Server 2007. New visualization options help companies make more informed decisions, the company said. BusinessObjects Voyager, software that allows for the exploration of online analytical processing (OLAP) data, aggregates transaction data from OLAP backend and presents it within graphical interfaces. Users get a multi-dimensional view of their businesses, the vendor said. Business Objects is an SAP company.
