Taiwan's Evergreen Line is joining two services in the Asia-Australia trade, known as AAS and AAN, operated by four ocean carriers--APL, Hamburg Sud, Hapag-Lloyd and Hyundai Merchant Marine. The arrangement, commencing in the last week of October, allows Evergreen to offer wider port coverage and better transit times than were possible through its existing TCA route. With the participation of Evergreen, the five ships in the AAN (Northern Loop) service will be upgraded to a capacity of 3,500 twenty-foot equivalent units, up from their previous size of 2,500 to 2,700 TEUs. The rotation for the weekly AAN service is Yokohama, Osaka, Pusan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and back to Yokohoma. Rotation for the AAS (Southern Loop) service, also weekly, is Kaohsiung, Yantian, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Kaohsiung.
