Motorola, Inc. has unveiled the latest version of its One Point Wireless Suite, while announcing the upcoming release of Wireless Manager 2.0. The latter is a network-management tool, which works with the vendor's indoor RF (Radio Frequency) Management Suite to provide a single point of control for Motorola indoor and outdoor wireless networks. The One Point Wireless Suite gives businesses the resources that are needed to design and manage wireless networks. Operators can replace field-based or manual designs with software-based plans, reducing planning and labor costs in the process, Motorola said. Automatic discovery and provisioning features cut deployment costs and errors while enabling faster network setup, the vendor claimed. Users can more easily view network status and quickly identify any problems that might result in system downtime. Motorola is expanding the One Point Wireless Suite to enable network operators to control every detail of their networks, from wireless network design through deployment and full operational management mode, the company said. Components of the suite include a MeshPlanner, with the ability to design and measure mesh networks; PTP LINKPlanner, to maximize link planning efficiency while optimizing coverage; LANPlanner, a predictive design and verification tool for company-wide wireless Local Area Networks; Wireless Manager, to streamline the deployment and provisioning of networks, and RF Management Suite, allowing network operators to take full control of their indoor wireless LAN. Wireless Manager 2.0 is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2009, Motorola said.
