SAF U.S.A., Inc., a vendor of automated ordering and replenishment systems for retailers and industrial manufacturers, has launched version 5.0.0 of its SAF SuperStore and SuperWarehouse applications. The new version increases forecast quality with additional features, such as consideration of sales "cannibalization" effects. The function allows retailers and manufacturers to understand how an item on sale will affect demand for related products. As a result, SAF said, users can forecast precise orders during special promotions. In addition, a new investment buying function allows for the utilization of special supplier pricing offers. The tool contains a forecast breakdown, which enables companies to identify the impact of multiple factors, such as the impact of a special offer on sales and volume. The enhanced reporting features display each step of the replenishment optimization calculation. Increased visibility of the automatic ordering process reduces the tendency of retailers to make unnecessary manual changes to an accurate order, according to SAF. Version 5.0.0. has also expanded configuration options to allow for the transformation of metric-influencing factors such as price, to better explain sales performance and improve forecast quality.
