Manhattan Associates, Inc. has issued a new release of its Extended Enterprise Management software. EEM allows third-party logistics providers to manage orders, shipments and inventory. They can consolidate movements through the management of partner-to-partner shipping, while offering customers direct fulfillment, Manhattan said. The tool provides support for cross-docking and flow-through shipments. In the process, 3PLs can help retailers and manufacturers adjust their transportation and inventory networks to meet changing seasons or trends. Manhattan EEM features a centralized, browser-based design, which allows for the management of order fulfillment and automation of customer communications. It makes possible the visibility of orders, shipments and inventory from sourcing to cargo delivery, the vendor claimed. A single, real-time view of the global supply chain improves inventory control and optimizes fulfillment channels. In addition, users can monitor supply-chain events in real time, taking action according to alerts of critical exception events. The result, said Manhattan, is lower transportation costs through improved equipment utilization.
