Zoho has developed Zoho CloudSQL, middleware that uses the Structured Query Language to connect business data stored in Zoho with traditional, on-premises applications as well as other service-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings. Zoho offers a variety of software applications to manage information and business processes. The new middleware lets users store and interact with business data stored in the cloud via SQL. Zoho Reports, the vendor's online reporting and business intelligence service previously known as Zoho DB & Reports, is the first to support Zoho CloudSQL. At the same time, Zoho Reports has added an HTTP-based application-programming interface (API), which lets users interact with their data programmatically. Zoho CloudSQL supports all major SQL dialects, including ANSI, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, MySQL, PostgreSQL and Informix database dialects. Zoho also provides a Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) driver for CloudSQL. An Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) driver will be available shortly, the vendor said. Support for those database connectivity standards means that developers don't need to master Web APIs in order to extend their services with Zoho, the company added.
