Grounded Air Inc. of Fridley, Minn., has purchased the Freight Logix transportation management software suite from Headwater Technology Solutions to manage its complex of four interrelated logistics companies. The four include Grounded Air, which operates a fleet of more than 40 company and owner-operated trucks; GA Logistics, which provides brokered transportation services; J&J Warehousing, which operates a 40,000-square foot facility for short-term storage, transfer and cross-docking of freight; and Jet-Way express, which offers expedited less-than-truckload two-day service between Los Angeles and Minneapolis.
Freight Logix is replacing a solution that had been in place for about four years, but which compartmentalizes the operations of the several companies and doesn't allow interoperability. Freight Logix should permit all of the company's operations to work seamlessly in the same software environment, allowing greater efficiency and facilitating growth through the streamlining and reconfiguration of management functions. The solution will reside on a Microsoft Windows server at the company's headquarters.
