Many multinational companies have struggled with sales in China because there simply aren't enough qualified people to go around. Indeed, for all its economic gains in recent years, China has yet to develop a strong sales culture. Salespeople do exist, but they largely serve the consumer segment in retail settings. And thus far, few young Chinese see an employer's sales department as a place to build a career or rise to the executive suite.
