Crowley Maritime Corp. has begun deploying a faster and larger containership in its service between Florida and Nassau, the Bahamas. The Stadt Hannover, with a capacity of 373 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), including stowage for 33 forty-five-foot, 102-inch-wide containers, replaces the Wesertor. It is about half a knot faster than its predecessor. The Stadt Hannover also has 40 reefer plugs for perishable shipments, and more space for oversized and project cargoes requiring flatrack equipment. Crowley sails from Port Everglades, Fla. every Tuesday evening and arrives in Nassau at 7 a.m. on Wednesdays. The ship from Jacksonville, Fla. departs every Friday evening and arrives in Nassau at 6 a.m. Mondays. Crowley Holdings Inc., the holding company of Crowley Maritime, provides transportation and logistics services in domestic and international markets by way of six operating lines of business: Puerto Rico/Caribbean liner, Latin America liner, logistics, petroleum, marine and technical services. Crowley's offerings include liner container shipping, contract towing, ship assist and escort, energy support, salvage and emergency response, vessel management, vessel construction and naval architecture, government services, and distribution and sales support for petroleum and chemicals.
