DHL Global Forwarding has opened a dedicated Life Science Competency Center in Carolina, Puerto Rico. The operation is designed to meet the shipping requirements of the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical-device manufacturing sectors with business in Puerto Rico. DHL Global Forwarding has served the Puerto Rico market since 1958, providing freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and domestic air and ocean services. It moved to its current facility in Puerto Rico in October, 2007, offering more than 70,000 square feet of warehouse space. Last June, the company expanded its network of Envirotainer QEP certified sites, supporting the use of air-transportation containers manufactured by Envirotainer. The opening of the Life Science Competency Center in Puerto Rico is part of a larger initiative by DHL Global Forwarding to craft a global network of people, customized processes and quality-controlled environments for the life sciences industry.
