Mentor Engineering, Inc. has made a series of enhancements to its XMobile Manager (XMM) software. XMM remotely programs, updates and manages software programs running on an in-vehicle computer, Mentor Ranger. It also keeps track of the software version that each vehicle is operating. The technology eliminates the need for individually updating devices within each vehicle. Users can now run XMM on multiple computers simultaneously, with more than one individual able to interact with devices in the fleet at the same time. Data transfers can be staggered to a large group of mobile devices, freeing up bandwidth and allowing users to specify transfer start and end times. New log files can be remotely browsed and automatically downloaded from one or multiple devices. Users can remotely retrieve a visual image of what is displayed on the in-vehicle computer, helping technicians to assess and eliminate device issues. They can also configure XMM to send package transfers over a specific network; remotely view the mobile devices' current memory, status information, list of files and file properties; remotely retrieve files from mobile devices; remotely reset mobile devices, and configure user security permissions.
