A.N. Deringer, Inc., a global provider of logistics services, has devised an electronic system for satisfying the new Importer Security Filing (ISF) rules of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The product ensures the submission of data elements required by the new Customs requirement, also known as the 10+2 rule. In addition, said Deringer, it can help importers to manage their data in a secure, central location, while adding visibility to the supply chain. Deringer is offering two options for storage and management of pertinent information. The ISF Solutions Package I allows clients to enter ISF data from their computers via a user-friendly interface. They are provided with a personalized login and password to a secure portal through which the required data elements are transmitted to Customs. For importers with more limited resources, the ISF Solutions Package II lets Deringer's own personnel enter the required data on the importer's behalf. The ISF filing requires importers and carriers to supply new data elements at least 24 hours prior to vessel loading. Deringer believes that carriers will request that the data be accepted by Customs 72 to 96 hours prior to loading, in order to avoid sailing delays.
