I.D. Systems, Inc. has created PowerFleet, a wireless vehicle management system (VMS) for forklifts and other industrial trucks. PowerFleet manages critical safety and maintenance functions associated with industrial vehicle access control, electronic safety checklists and impact sensing. It also offers an array of system-expansion modules for more complex situations. Optional modules include productivity optimization; vehicle visibility, including true location tracking, historical movement analysis and zone control; material-handling resource planning, including electronic kanban part replenishment; vehicle speed management; vehicle battery management; advanced maintenance scheduling and control, and two-way text messaging and text dispatching. The PowerFleet system can be tailored to meet a customer's specific needs either at initial system deployment or at a later point in time, according to I.D. Systems. PowerFleet Vision software is available in both client server and browser-based formats. Its licensing system enables users to view only those modules that are authorized for their operation. Task-oriented menus allow for navigation via direct mouse clicks. PowerFleet incorporates a new type of wireless technology known as SecureStream, which includes high-security, industry-standard Wi-Fi communications.
