Beginning in May, Matson Navigation Co. will include the southern port of Xiamen in its China-Long Beach Express (CLX) offering. Service from Ningbo and Shanghai remains unchanged. CLX provides shippers with next-day cargo availability on the West Coast, as well as one-stop intermodal connections through Matson's logistics operating unit, Matson Integrated Logistics. The carrier's trans-Pacific service encompasses both the U.S. domestic ports of Honolulu and Guam on the westbound leg, and the Chinese ports of Ningbo and Shanghai eastbound. CLX was inaugurated in 2006. Matson claims to offer the fastest transit times available between central China and Southern California.
