Workforce Central 6.1 is the latest version of a software suite from Kronos Inc. The tool is designed to allow manufacturers to reconcile daily production data on labor and machine utilization within one integrated system. As a result, Kronos said, shop-floor managers can identify and resolve bottlenecks in real time. The system provides managers with the status of machines, shop-floor workers and work in process. When a machine is down, the manager is notified, allowing for the shifting of labor to another position to maintain operations at peak efficiency. In combining labor and equipment tracking, Kronos is linking key performance indicators for the overall effectiveness of both labor and equipment. Kronos introduced the labor-effectiveness measure in 2007.
