Sato America, a vendor of technology for automatic identification and data collection, has introduced the MBi Series of mobile barcode printers. The thermal and direct thermal units are especially well suited for use in government, law enforcement, logistics manufacturing, retail, transportation and utilities, Sato said. They can perform a variety of tasks, including receipt printing, price marking, markdowns, specimen labeling, shelf labeling, route accounting, and point of sale. The printers are durable yet lightweight, weighing about one pound, and tested to survive drops. They offer user-selectable print speeds of up to four inches per second. Sato's "drop-load-go" design allows for easy media and battery loading. They can operate under multiple communication protocols, including USB, Bluetooth, RS232 (Serial), 802.11 g/b, and IrDA. Sato makes a variety of products for barcode printing and labeling, based on Electronic Product Code standards and radio frequency identification technology.
