Trade Wings, Inc., a vendor of supply-chain technology for telecommunications manufacturers and service providers, has restructured its client portal architecture to provide business intelligence to clients and users. Building upon the company's XNet portal, which up to now has delivered only Web pages; the new architecture enables data delivery to destinations other than Web browsers, such as mobile phones, PDAs and Web-service consumers. XNet is a collaboration tool, which allows telecommunications manufacturing partners and service providers to view and manage their equipment and parts inventories. They can buy, sell, view and move material throughout supply chains. The new software employs the Model-View-Controller (MVC) design pattern, allowing for management of various components of the system independently. In the process, the application can be built and scaled according to clients' needs. In addition, users acquire more enhanced views of inventories, so that clients can make better stock-transfer and disposition decisions. By separating the portal application into different layers, the MVC architecture allows different data-delivery methods and provides a more flexible platform, Trade Wings said.
